Our Officers are required by law to attend all calls of by-law violations; even if the call is the result of an unfounded accusation or “neighbour dispute”, we must respond.
Investigations are made to determine the outcome for by-law infractions, whether it is to inform the owner of possible unknown issues (dogs that bark when the owner is absent) or to issue Provincial Offences Act (POA) Fines to repeat offenders. When reporting a by-law violation, we do require your name and a phone number; if we require further information from you, as the complainant, we need a way to contact you. Your information is always kept confidential.
The most common by-law issue reported is dog barking.
